Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi cautioned Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia against backing the ISIL militants, saying that the Takfiri terrorists will take action against their own supporters sooner or later.

The senior Iranian general said on Wednesday that the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group seeks to conquer all Muslim countries and makes no exception for anybody.

He urged Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar not to count on alliance with ISIL, adding that "assisting and supporting these Takfiri terrorists will jeopardize their (own) security sooner or later."

Firouzabadi also criticized the Turkish government for making the "strategic mistake" of attacking Kurdish forces.

Launching an offensive against the Kurds, who have been fighting off the ISIL militants, would facilitate the Takfiri terrorists' access to the Turkish borders, he warned Ankara.

The "great neighboring country, Turkey," should be cautious about selecting its friends, because ISIL has even plans for Turkey, Firouzabadi added.

Turkey has recently staged a military campaign in Syria and Iraq in the wake of a terrorist bomb attack in its border town of Suruc that claimed 32 lives on July 20. Ankara blamed the ISIL terrorist group for the blast.

However, the Turkish airstrikes have mostly targeted positions held by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Iraq.
