Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian underlined that his country is ready to hold talks and cooperate with Saudi Arabia to settle problems and establish peace in the region.

"We welcome talks and cooperation with Saudi Arabia to return peace, security and welfare to the region," Amir Abdollahian told FNA on Tuesday.

He described the nuclear agreement between Tehran and the world powers as beneficial to all the regional states, and said, "If Saudi Arabia plays a constructive role, it will certainly gain benefits."

"The Saudis' negative game will both harm the country and will seriously threaten sustainable regional security and development," Amir Abdollahian said.

He pointed to the Saudi-led aggression against Yemen, and said using force will further spread the crisis in the country and terrorism in the region.

Amir Abdollahian underscored that the crisis in Yemen can merely be settled through political solutions and agreement among the Yemeni groups.

Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 153 days now to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 5,518 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.

Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.

Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
