Iranian Supreme Leader's top adviser for international affairs Ali Akbar Velayati blasted the US and certain reactionary regimes in the region for their support for terrorist groups, and said Washington's proxy war has now endangered security and stability in Europe.

"As we have announced repeatedly and since the start of these events (the terrorist attacks in the region and Europe), these actions which are carried out with the support of certain European states, the reactionary regional states and the US will not remain limited to the region and this proxy war will threaten the global peace and stability and we are witnessing its result in Europe too," Velayati told FNA on Monday on the sidelines of a conference in Singapore dubbed 'Growth through Interaction – the South Asian Opportunity'.

He warned of enemies' plots to disintegrate and create rift among the regional states, and called for firm will and convergence among the regional and world countries to fight against violence, terrorism, extremist and Takfiri streams.

Velayati also underlined his country's position on regional events, and stressed Iran's strong opposition to double-standard approaches towards terrorism that have created the category of bad terrorists and good ones as an instrument to exert pressure and stage coups to overthrow the legal governments.

His remarks came after a truck loaded with weapons and hand grenades plowed through a crowd celebrating Bastille Day on Thursday night. At least 90 people were killed and 120 others were injured in the terrorist attack.

A French-Tunisian terrorist killed people when he drove a heavy truck at high speed into a crowd of people who were watching the Bastille Day fireworks in Nice city.

The attack came eight months after the ISIL gunmen and suicide bombers hit Paris on a festive Friday evening.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in a message to his French counterpart Claude Bartolone condemned the Thursday terrorist, cautioning that terrorism has spread to all parts of world.

“The recent terrorist attacks in Iraq's Karrada, Bangladesh's Dhaka, Turkey's Istanbul and France's Nice prove that terrorism knows no boundaries and is a serious threat to security and stability of all countries with any religion, race and ethnicity,” Larijani said in his message.

The Iranian parliament speaker condemned the terrorist attack in Nice, and cautioned that "the double-standard approach towards terrorism has led to insecurity all around the world".

Larijani extended his condolences to Bartolone, members of the Parliament, government and people of France.

He reiterated that Iran is itself victim of terrorism, and said, "Hundreds of Iranian families have been grieved with the loss of their relatives in attacks by terrorist groups like the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO, also known as the MEK, PMOI and NCR) since the victory of Islamic Revolution, the same group that we witnessed had a gathering in Paris recently."

"I do believe double standards and lack of seriousness in dealing with terrorism would result in more insecurity, violence and extremism in different parts of the world,” Larijani said.

He called on the EU to adopt an active, principled, unified and clear policy on the fight against terrorism, its roots and causes of its growth.
