Iran declares Tuesday Ramadan start, Moon also sighted in Pakistan

ramzan karimThe fasting month of Ramadan begins in Iran and Pakistan on Tuesday as the crescent moon was not spotted at Sunday's sunset, Office of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution announces, however the moon has sighted in Pakistan on Monday evening.

In a statement issued from the office of the leader of Islamic revolution Grand Ayatuallah Syed Ali Khamenei, the office declared Monday as the last day of the lunar month of Sha'ban as it was not possible to see the crescent on Sunday. 

It called on Iranian Muslims who want to be blessed furthermore to fast on Monday as for the last day of the month of Sha'ban. 

Pakistan

The moon of Holy fasting month has been sighted in different parts of Pakistan on Monday in the different parts of the country. The moon was sighted in Islamabad, Multan, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Quetta and other cities. First fast would be observed on Tuesday.

The formal announcement of the moon has announced by Rauet-e-Halal committee of Pakistan Chairman Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman after its session at Karachi. 

Muslims begin Ramadan based on the physical sighting of the moon by the naked eye which is usually confirmed by religious authorities. 

Fasting is intended to teach Muslims about faith, spirituality, self-accountability and self-restraint.
