rahbar-roshan4Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has paid a visit to the families of two assassinated Iranian nuclear scientists, talking to the bereaved.
Ayatollah Khamenei met the families of Dariush Rezaeinejad and Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan on Thursday night and offered his condolences to them.
The Leader praised the efforts made by these scientists, and pointed out that the enemy seeks to eliminate young Iranian scholars in order to block the

unswerving progress of the Iranian nation.

On July 23, 2011 unidentified gunmen killed the Iranian nuclear scientist Rezaeinejad outside his house.

Rezaeinejad and his wife were on their way to their child’s kindergarten when they were approached by two men on a motorbike. The gunmen called him by name and shot Rezaeinejad, 35, in the neck when he turned around.

Similarly, another Iranian scientist, Ahmadi-Roshan, was killed on January 11 after an unknown motorcyclist attached a magnetic bomb to his car near a college building of Allameh Tabatabaei University in Tehran.

Ahmadi Roshan was a chemical engineering graduate of the prominent Sharif University of Technology and served as the deputy director of marketing at Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility.

The terrorist attack came as Iran had reached an agreement with the P5+1 — Britain, China, France, Russia, and the United States plus Germany — to hold negotiations in Turkey.

The US, Israel, and their allies accuse Iran of pursuing a military nuclear program and have used this allegation as a pretext to sway the United Nations Security Council to impose four rounds of sanctions on Iran.

Based on these accusations, they have also repeatedly threatened Tehran with the “option” of a military strike.

Meanwhile, in November 2011, some of the US presidential hopefuls called for conducting covert and overt operations against the country, ranging from assassinating Iranian nuclear scientists and sabotaging Tehran’s nuclear program to launching a military strike on Iran.

The calls for assassinations are not idle threats as a number of Iranian scientists have been assassinated over the past few years. Professor Majid Shahriari and Professor Masoud Ali-Mohammadi are among the victims of these acts of terror.

On November 29, 2010, Shahriari and Fereydoun Abbasi were targeted by terrorist attacks. Shahriari was killed immediately and Dr. Abbasi, the current director of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, only sustained injuries.

Iran says since the UN Resolution 1747, adopted against Tehran in March 2007, cited Abbasi’s name as a “nuclear scientist,” the perpetrators were managed to trace their victim.
