Supreme Leader attends Imam Hussein's mourning ceremonies

Imam-Khamenei-Tasua-Day-MajThe mourning ceremonies marking the anniversary of the martyrdom of the third Shiite Imam Hussein (AS) were held at Imam Khomeini Husseiniya in Tehran at the presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Several Iranian senior officials and thousands of people from different walks of life attended the ceremonies held on the occasion of Ashoura, the 10th day of the lunar month of Muharram, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) on Sunday.

Throughout Iran, millions of people mourned the Ashoura. Tens of millions took part in massive processions across Iran, marking the anniversary of the martyrdom of one of Shiite Islam's most beloved leaders.

Mourners dressed in black took to the streets and also gathered in mosques to grieve the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS). / HK
