irani commanderA senior Iranian commander says the Islamic Republic plans to boost the range of its anti-warship and anti-radar missiles soon.

“In the near future, the range of anti-warship and anti-radar missiles will be increased to 100

kilometers, up from 50 kilometers,” Commander of the Aerospace Division of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Amirali Hajizadeh told Iranian national TV on Monday.

Referring to Iran's numerous achievements in its defense and military industries, the Iranian commander said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has managed to overcome the enemies’ sanctions through relying on domestic forces and drawing on their capabilities and talents.”

Iran’s progress in its defense industry has made the enemies stop threatening the Iranian nation and engage in negotiations with the Islamic Republic, added Hajizadeh.

Earlier this week, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei paid a visit to an exhibition at the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Forces’ Central Command, where the achievements of the IRGC Aerospace Forces in the design and development of drones were put on display.

During the event, the IRGC Aerospace Forces unveiled a domestically produced version of a sophisticated US drone it had captured back in 2011. The US RQ-170 Sentinel was reverse-engineered by IRGC experts in about two years.

Other Iranian drones, including Shahed 129 and 125, were also on display at the exhibition.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and has attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.

Iran has repeatedly said that its military might poses no threat to other countries, reiterating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
