ISIL Takfiri terrorists have executed about 2,000 soldiers, police forces, and staff of the Electoral Commission over the past two weeks in Iraq's second city of Mosul, according to the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

Ghiyath Surji, the media chief of the Iraqi-Kurdish political party in Iraq's Kurdistan region, said Tuesday the terrorists have released the names of the dead and told their relatives not to request the handover of bodies.

He said most of the victims were government employees and soldiers, adding that the situation in Mosul, in northern Iraq, is very tense under the ISIL-created atmosphere of intimidation.

The Takfiris took over Mosul last June and later seized swathes of land in northern and western Iraq. The terrorists have since been committing heinous crimes against the people of all faiths and communities there, including both Muslims and Christians of either Arab or Kurdish ethnicity.

In March, Iraqi government forces supported by Shia and Sunni volunteer fighters managed to retake the major city of Tikrit from Takfiri ISIL militants as part of the quest to wrest control of Mosul.
