At least 130 members of the Takfiri Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group have been killed in multiple operations carried out by Iraqi forces backed by air power in the country’s western and northern provinces of Anbar and Kirkuk.

A total of 18 Daesh terrorists were killed and 20 others injured after Iraqi fighter jets carried out precision strikes against Daesh positions in Albu Shajal region, which lies east of Anbar’s provincial capital city of Ramadi, on Wednesday, the Arabic-language al-Sumaria satellite television network reported.

Twelve cars used by Daesh extremists for transport, five vehicles rigged with explosives as well as four pickup trucks with heavy machine guns mounted on them were also destroyed during the operation.

Iraqi military aircraft also launched a separate air raid against an area in the city of Khalidiya, located about 83 kilometers (50 miles) west of Baghdad, killing 13 Daesh militants.

A security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the aerial assault was carried out following a tip-off that Daesh members were operating in the area.

Moreover, Iraqi security forces backed by Kurdish Peshmerga forces engaged Daesh Takfiris in the town of Daquq, located approximately 180 kilometers north of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. Forty militants were killed and 45 others wounded during the gunfight.

Iraqi police forces and members of allied Popular Mobilization units, backed by Iraqi fighter jets, also targeted Daesh bases in the oil-rich city of Baiji, located some 210 kilometers (130 miles) north of Baghdad, leaving 50 terrorists dead.

Iraqi Commander Major General Ali Ibrahim Daboun said nine Daesh Takfiris were killed during an offensive in the city of Khan al-Baghdadi, situated about 180 kilometers (110 miles) northwest of Baghdad, on Wednesday.

The northern and western parts of Iraq have been plagued by gruesome violence ever since Daesh terrorists began their campaign of terror in the country in June 2014.

The militants have been committing vicious crimes against all ethnic and religious communities in Iraq, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians and others.
