A total of 126 Daesh terrorists have been killed during operations by the Iraqi army, anti-terrorism forces, and police aimed at liberating the city of Mosul.

According to a commander of the anti-terrorism forces, Abdel Wahab al-Saedi, 40 of the terrorists were killed as they were trying to block the advancement of Iraqi forces in the city’s eastern regions on Wednesday.

The Iraqi Defense Ministry also announced that 54 Takfiris were killed during government airstrikes in the city’s southern neighborhoods. It noted that several terrorist vehicles were destroyed in the attacks.

Earlier in the day, Iraqi military intelligence announced that at least 32 militants were killed during airstrikes which targeted terrorist positions located to the west of the city.

Iraqi army soldiers, backed by pro-government fighters from Popular Mobilization Units and Kurdish Peshmerga forces, launched an operation on October 17 to retake Mosul from the Daesh terrorists.

Mosul fell to Daesh two years ago, when the terror outfit began its campaign of death and destruction in northern and western Iraq.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has vowed that Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, will be fully recaptured by year-end.
