According to the Shiite News, Eighteen worshippers were wounded when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off near a Shia mosque north of al-Hilla city on Friday, a local police source said.

“The IED exploded off the Shiite mosque of al-Zubaydi neighborhood in the district of al-Djebla, (50 km) north of Hilla,” 

“The explosion left 18 worshippers wounded,” he said, not giving further details about the incident.

Hilla, the capital city of Babel province, lies 100 km south of Baghdad.
