iraq-violenceAt least six people, including three security forces, have been killed in the new wave of bomb attacks in Iraq, interior ministry sources say.

In the first incident, three policemen lost their lives on Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded in the Hamreen region of Baquba city, in Diyala province, AFP reported.

An interior ministry source says another bomb went off near the Sunni Endowment's headquarters in Baghdad and killed two guards and left four other people injured.

The source added that a magnetic "sticky bomb" targeted a car and claimed a live, wounding four other people.

The attacks came a day after seven people have been killed by bomb blasts in the Iraqi capital and the country's eastern province of Diyala.

Seven years after US raid on Iraq, casualties from bomb attacks still remain part of daily life in the war-torn country.

The classified documents released by the whistleblower website Wikileaks have shed light on a spate of crimes and offences committed in Iraq over the past few years, including assassinations and murders.

The US invaded Iraq in 2003 under the pretext of having weapons of mass destruction, but such weapons were never found.

Seven killed in Iraq's south, capital

Bombing attacks in the Iraqi capital and the country's eastern province of Diyala have killed seven people, including a senior army officer.

An improvised explosive device detonated on Tuesday near Baqouba, 60 kilometers (37 miles) north of Baghdad. The blast killed six soldiers, including an army major, AFP quoted local security officials as saying.

Another bomb attack targeted the convoy of Deputy Planning Minister Mahdi al-Alaq in central Baghdad.

The official and his guards were not hurt in the attack that killed a passer-by and wounded three others.

The deadly attacks come a day after a spate of militant attacks mostly in the capital, Baghdad.

A bomb blast in Talafar in the northern province of Nineveh left five civilians injured, according to Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Three policemen were wounded on Monday when a bomb explosion hit a convoy of the interior ministry in the capital's central region of al-Arsat. Five civilians and an army soldier were also injured in two separate bombing attacks in central and southern Baghdad.

Meanwhile, a senior police colonel escaped an assassination attempt on Monday in central Kirkuk.
