mko iraqA member of the terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) has reportedly committed suicide at Camp New Iraq, formerly known as Camp Ashraf, in Iraq’s eastern province of Diyala.

The MKO terrorist, identified as Shamsollah Mohammadi, killed himself at the camp, situated about 120

kilometers (74 miles) west of the border with Iran, on July 28.

The incident comes as the Habilian Association, citing security officials at Camp Ashraf, reported on July 19 that one of the elderly MKO members also committed suicide on the evening of July 16.

Iraqi security forces reportedly found stab wounds on the body of the victim, and briefed the local authorities about the discovery.
Excessive mental pressures, psychological problems and a bleak future outlook for the group are said to have driven MKO members in Iraq to despair, prompting some of them to commit suicide.

The MKO fled to Iraq in 1986, where it enjoyed the support of Iraq's executed dictator Saddam Hussein, and set up its camp near the Iranian border.

The group is also known to have cooperated with Saddam Hussein in suppressing the 1991 uprisings in southern Iraq and carrying out the massacre of Iraqi Kurds.

The MKO has carried out numerous acts of violence against Iranian civilians and government officials.
