Attacks leave over 30 people martyred across Iraq

bast carOver 30 people have been martyred in several attacks across Iraq as the country is grappling with a prolonged rise in violence.

At least 15 people were killed in a bombing at a local market in the Sadriyah neighbourhood of the Iraqi capital

Another explosive-ridden vehicle went off at a joint checkpoint, killing a soldier and two Kurdish security forces.

In the volatile city of Baquba, north of Baghdad, a man was killed by a "sticky bomb" attached to his car.

Meanwhile, former lawmaker Jamal Mohsen was shot dead inside his house on the outskirts of Nasiriyah city.

Iraqi police also discovered the body of a woman who was killed the previous night near the city of Tikrit.

Data released by Iraq’s ministries of health, interior and defense on November 1 showed that violence in the Arab country has killed 964 people and injured 1,600 others in October alone.

Over 35 people were also wounded in the attack as people gathered at restaurants and cafes and did the shopping.

The market had been hit by a massive car bomb in April 2007, which left 140 people dead.

In another attack, four policemen were killed after a bomb exploded near a police station in Baghdad's northeastern outskirts, while another bombing targeting Sahwa militiamen, killed one fighter.

Also on Monday, separate assaults in the capital left three people dead, including a Justice Ministry employee.

A car bomb in a residential area in the city of Mosul claimed five lives. Furthermore, a magnetic "sticky bomb" attached to a car in the northern city killed its driver.
