Lebanon Military Tribunal, headed by General Hussein Abdullah, postponed the trial of the terrorist Ahmad Assir in the Abra incidents and the formation of dormant cells until September 28, 2017.

The court held a trial session on Tuesday and displayed videos which clearly show Assir followers attacking the Lebanese army soldiers in Abra town in the southern town of Sidon.

The videos also showed the terrorist commander ordering his followers to kill the Lebanese servicemen ferociously and commanding them to claim, if asked by media outlets, that the army soldiers had started the conflict.

During Tuesday’s session, the court president Brig. Gen. Hussein Abdullah rejected Assir’s lawyers request for hearing the testimonies of former president Michel Suleiman, ex-PM Najib Miqati, former army chief General Jean Qahwaji and a number of ministers and security chiefs, considering that it as infeasible.

“This is a judicial and not a political trial… The defense lawyers’ approach reflects a will to obstruct the trial,” the court president said.

Brig. Gen. Hussein Abdullah barred terrorists’ lawyers from future trial sessions after they withdrew from Tuesday’s session and announced that he would appoint a military lawyer for the detained militant.
