Hezbollah Secretary General Syed Hassan Nasrollah says the prominent Shia cleric Imam Moussa al-Sadr and his two companions are “alive and in custody in Libya.”

Imam Moussa al-Sadr was kidnapped during an official visit to Tripoli to meet with officials from the government of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in August 1978.He is believed to have been abducted on the orders of senior Libyan officials.

Further The Secretary General of Lebanon's Hezbollah, Syed Hassan Nasrollah, has noted that President Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will visit Lebanon in the next few weeks, while adding that the Lebanese government should be prepared for talks with Iran in regard to equipping the Lebanese army.

Nasrollah emphasized that: "We approve of the call for reinforcement of the Lebanese army for defending the Lebanese soil and we hope that this topic of importance would be seriously taken into consideration. We also call on the Lebanese government to form committees for requesting help from Arab countries."

He added that hopefully the reinforcement of the Lebanese army will take place with honesty and far from domestic political disputes.

In further remarks, Nasrollah underlined that currently the relations between Iran and Syria are consolidated more than ever

In 2008, the government in Beirut issued an arrest warrant for Gaddafi over Sadr's disappearance.Libya has denied involvement, ignoring calls for more information on the case.

According to the Shiite News, in an address to the International Qods Dayceremony held in southern Beirut, Nasrollah said that: "When we spoke of equipping the Lebanese army by Iran, a few set conditions for Iran, which insisted on an end to Iran's support for the Lebanese resistance."
