On Wednesday, Lebanese will be receiving an exceptional guest who would mark a historic visit to the country.

On Wednesday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be in Lebanon, marking the start of a two-day visit in which he’s set to hold a series of meetings with top officials, he will take part in ceremonies to be made in his honor and he will tour the South where he would

"What we hear these days is that the Lebanese have welcomed the Iranian president and they courageously responded to Israel's objection to his upcoming visit," Roknabadi noted during a TV interview.

The Israeli enemy has been trying to pressure Beirut into canceling President Ahmadinejad's trip. Last week, Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said that Tel Aviv was "extremely worried" about the Iranian chief executive's visit.

"President Ahmadinejad is visiting Lebanon at the invitation of Lebanese President Michel Sleiman and the visit has political and economic dimensions; therefore, a political and economic delegation will accompany him," Roknabadi pointed out, noting that 15 government organizations in Iran and Lebanon are currently examining documents which are to be signed in Lebanon during Ahmadinejad's trip.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem announced that the visit has even succeeded before it starts. “Ahmadinejad’s visit comes at the invitation of Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, which means that Lebanon wants this visit to consolidate relations and ties between Lebanon and the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Sheikh Qassem said. “We all know Iran’s services in Lebanon, we all know what Iran did in Lebanon without asking for anything in return.”

Sheikh Qassem noted that the pressure against the visit from the part of the United States, Europe, Israel and others was a proof that the visit is more important than we thought and a proof that the visit would be very useful for Lebanon and might put an end to the US conditions for supporting Lebanon. “This visit also marks Lebanon’s sovereignty because the official Lebanon stood and said yes, we want our friend Ahmadinejad in Lebanon, we want Iran to cooperate with Lebanon. This is a courageous stance by President Michel Sleiman and concerned authorities.”

“President Ahmadinejad is an exceptional leader for an exceptional state which is the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Sheikh Qassem said, renewing calls for a wide participation in the reception of the great guest. “We want to tell the whole world that we’re proud of our friendships and ties with resisting countries,” his eminence said, concluding that the visit has even completely succeeded even before it starts.

In the meantime, the head of the Change and Reform parliamentary bloc MP Michel Aoun hailed the visit, rejecting criticism made by “those who didn’t hesitate to kiss US Secretary of State Condolezza Rice who visited Lebanon during the July War.”

“We tell Ahmadinejad that he’s welcome in Lebanon. He deserves to be honored and received with popular celebrations,” Aoun told Al-Manar.

"President Ahmadinejad's visit to Lebanon is aimed at fostering unity among the Lebanese and calling all Lebanese to stand beside each other for resistance and that is why Israel is furious and has threatened Lebanon," Iran's ambassador to Beirut Ghazanfar Roknabadi said on the eve of the visit.
