syed-hassan-nasrullah2The United States on Friday attacked Hezbollah Secretary General Syed Hasan Nasrallah's decisive position toward the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) probing the 2005 assassination of former Premier Rafiq Hariri.

US State Department spokesman PJ Crowley described Syed Nasrallah's call to boycott the STL as efforts to "discredit, hinder, or politicize" the international tribunal.

Such decision "increases instability in Lebanon and the region," and " should not be tolerated," Crowley said during press briefing in Washington.
"The tribunal was created at the request of the Lebanese Government to the United Nations, and it’s a professional and independent tribunal with a mandate from the United Nations Security Council and the support of the international community. And politicizing and interfering with the work of the tribunal does not serve the interest of the Lebanese people."

"We condemn threats as yet another maneuver by Hezbollah to try to deny the Lebanese people the truth and justice that they deserve. There’s a presentation by (Syed) Hasan Nasrallah that somehow one has to choose between justice and stability. And we reject that as a false choice," Crowley added.

Syed Nasrallah was fed up by the UN team’s continuing violations when he called on all the Lebanese Thursday to end all cooperation with STL’s investigators since all data gathered on Lebanon to Israel.

"Whoever cooperates with the STL is working against the Resistance," his eminence said.

On Wednesday, a team of investigators entered a gynecology clinic in Southern Suburb of Beirut and demanded the archives of a number of patients, sparking dispute with women there.

Women waiting for their turn in the clinic, including an urgent case, were annoyed because the investigators stayed for long time, witnesses said, adding the voices were loud as other women from other clinics in the building rushed to know what was happening.
