Bekaa-Valley-Blast-16-03-2014A suicide bombing in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley town of al-Nabi Othman has killed four and injured several people, some critically.

The powerful explosives, which was estimated to weigh around 120 kg, caused damages to the town’s mosque as well as nearby shops and homes while burning numerous vehicles, Lebanon’s  Al-Manar TV outlet reported on Monday..

The notorious, al-Qaeda-linked terror group called “Al-Nusra Front in Lebanon” claimed responsibility for the deadly attack through its online Twitter account.

The terrorist attack came just hours after the Syrian army liberated the strategic town of Yabroud, near the Lebanese border, which was a major terrorist bastion in Syria to bring in and distribute military supplies to insurgent forces inside the country.

Lebanese security forces have previously stated that many of the car bombs used in prior suicide attacks in Lebanon originated from Yabroud.

The report further cited sources as saying that two men, identified as Abdul Rahman al-Qadi from al-Ain and Khalil Khalil from al-Fakiha, suspected a Grand Cherokee sport utility vehicle driving towards the target and tried to stop it when it blew up.

The two were killed in the blast. The other two victims of the terrorist incident were identified as Wahida Nazha and Ali Hussein Nazha from Al-Nabi Othman area.

The al-Nusra terrorist group is also active in Syria and Iraq and is widely believed to be led and financed by elements tied to Saudi Arabia.
