The ISIL Takfiri terrorists are reportedly preparing for a major attack in the eastern Syrian province of Dayr al-Zawr to take control of an air base.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Tuesday that the militants were mobilizing as civilians escaped from the nearby villages.

Some 1,500 Syrian soldiers are stationed at the airbase in Dayr al-Zawr, which is used by the Syrian air force for operations against ISIL positions in the province.

A number of militants were killed by Syrian soldiers in the provincial capital over the past week.

Meanwhile, the Syrian army troops were closing in on the militants near the al-Tim oil field.

Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since 2011 with ISIL Takfiri terrorists currently controlling parts of it mostly in the east.

The Western powers and their regional allies -- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey -- are reportedly supporting the militants operating inside Syria.

More than 191,000 people have been killed in over three years of fighting in the war-ravaged country, says the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), calling the figure a probable “underestimate of the real total number of people killed.”
