Takfiri terrorists have killed more than 12 civilians in the bomb shelling at government-held districts of Syria’s strategic northern city of Aleppo.

Over a dozen civilians, including eight members of a family, have been killed after terrorists fired shells at government-held districts of Syria’s strategic northern city of Aleppo.

Syrian state TV said Saturday the civilians, who include three children, were killed in shelling by foreign-backed militants in north of Aleppo.

The shells, which also left 45 injured, landed on a busy residential area. They heavily damaged homes, shops and cars, according to the Syrian state news agency, SANA.

The shells were fired from Aleppo’s Bani Zaid neighborhood, where anti-government terrorists are holed in, and landed in al-Ashrafiya, al-Midan, al-Khalediya, Masaken al-Sabeel, al-Seryan, and al-Jabriya districts, SANA added.
However, the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a London-based group close to Syria opposition, said five people were killed in Saturday's shelling.

On Thursday, terrorists attacked government-held districts of Aleppo, killing seven civilians.

Aleppo, Syria's former commercial hub, has become a key front in the country's four-year war.

Foreign-backed terrorists have shelled residential areas in the port city in the past, killing hundreds of people.

Aleppo has been also exposed to new attack by the ISIL terrorist group, mainly due to the city’s proximity to Turkish border, an area which is used by the Takfiri elements for transit of arms and weapons into the Arab country.

Syria has been grappling with a deadly crisis since March 2011. The violence fueled by Takfiri groups has so far claimed the lives of over 222,000 people, according to the UK-based observatory.

More than 67,000 of the dead were civilians, including over 11,000 children. The toll, however, does not include some 20,000 people listed as missing.

Over 3.8 million Syrians have left their country since the beginning of the crisis. More than 7.2 million Syrians have also become internally displaced, according to the United Nations.
