The Arab League will hold 'emergency' talks at the request of Saudi Arabia next Sunday to discuss the latest attacks on the kingdom's embassy and consulate, its deputy head said.

The weekend talks are previously aimed at "condemning the violations committed by Iran against the sanctity of the Saudi embassy in Tehran and its consulate in Mashhad," Ahmed Ben Helli told reporters on Monday.

The meeting will be the first of its kind, raising questions on the priorities of the Arab League, especially after turning a blind eye to the Zionist atrocities against Palestinians in the occupied territories.

Tensions have risen recently when the Saudi Arabia executed a prominent Shiite cleric and activist Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, after serving 3 years in jail.
