seyriyaAt least 15 Syrian security forces have been killed in a terrorist attack in the northern province of Aleppo despite the UN-brokered ceasefire. According to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, two colonels are among those killed in the ambush by the terrorist Free Syrian Army near the village of al-Rai on

Wednesday. Two rebel fighters were also killed in the dawn attack. Terrorist groups, fighting against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, also killed two army officers and injured several others in the southern province of Dara'a. Five soldiers were also killed in clashes near the capital, Damascus. Syria has been witnessing numerous attacks by armed groups in recent days despite the ceasefire that took effect on April 12. There are currently 24 UN observers in Syria to monitor the truce, which is part of a six-point peace plan proposed by UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan aimed at ending months of unrest in the country. Head of the UN peacekeeping mission in Syria Herve Ladsous on Tuesday urged Damascus and armed groups to comply with the truce, adding that all parties needed to take further steps to ensure a cessation of violence in all forms. Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011 and many people, mostly security forces, have been killed in the months of violence in the country.
