Syria Kurds kill FSA cmdr. in Hasakah: video

kurdsThe commander of a battalion of the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) has been killed in clashes with the forces of the Kurdish Popular Committees in the Syrian northeastern province of al-Hasakah, al-Alam reports.

The Kurdish forces killed Walid Faisal al-Ashwi, the commander of Marwn ibn al-Hakam battalion, Mo’ata brigade, in

clashes in Ras al-Ain district in al-Hasakah province.

Meanwhile, the Syrian army killed a large number of foreign-backed militants in Homs and its suburbs.

The army units targeted the militants’ gatherings and hideouts in al-Qosour in the vicinity of al-Massabigh, Khadijat al-Kobra school, al-Qarabis and its orchards, al-Ghouta orchards, Jourat al-Shayyah in the vicinity of al-Amal Hospital and City Center building, Bab Houd, al-Warsha and Wadi al-Sayeh, killing and wounding a number of them.

On the other hand, an armed group assassinated al-Zabadani mayor Majid Tinawi and a member of the National Reconciliation Committee in Rif Diamashq Ghassan al-Haj Hammoud in al-Zabadani city.

The militants opened fire on Tinawi and Hammoud after they left a meeting on national reconciliation in the district. The two died immediately.

The conflict in Syria started in March 2011, when pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of Western and regional states.

The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history.
