Syrian-Children-Free-Iftar-alRaqqaSyrians have set up a voluntary group to provide aid for the needy in the crisis-hit country grappling with foreign-backed militancy.

The group, titled the Sa’ed Organization, launched an initiative to make meals for those in need of food, including hundreds of thousands of internally displaced people, during the holy month of Ramadan.

“We make two meals a day one for the dusk and one for the dawn,” said Issam Habbal, the head of the Sa’ed Organization.

Volunteers collaborate in making thousands of meals in the capital Damascus and other Syrian cities with some taking part in the cooking process and others collecting aid.

“In the morning, we get together as volunteers in task groups for cooking, distributing, and collecting donation,” said a female volunteer, noting that “we want to be one hand in such times.”

The initiative does not only provide food for the needy but also indicates unity among the Syrian people at the time of a deadly unrest that has gripped the country since 2011.

Over 160,000 people have reportedly been killed and millions displaced due to the violence fueled by Western-backed militants.
