Amid protest, curfew, namaz-e-janaza was held

On the directives of Prime Minister, Federal interior minister Rehman Malik has reached Gilgit. Tension prevailed in Gilgit, Skardu and Hunza Nagar.

In Skarudu, ISO has registered a protest by demonstration at Chowk Yadgar-e-Shohda. A strike was observed in Astoor. Protestors burnt tires to block road. Transport was off from the road. Educational institutions were closed. Section 144 was already imposed and curfew was imposed for indefinite period.
Namaz-e-janaza was held at Imamia Jamia Masjid and from where the coffins were shifted to the places of burial. People of Duniver are reportedly marching towards Gilgit to lodge protest. Heavy contingents of police were deployed in the area.
Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan has announced Rs.1million compensation and a job to the heirs of the martyrs.
Skardu witnessed another day of protest and shutdown strike on Wednesday. Government offices also remained closed. Gilgit-Ghazar road was also sealed off and Pindi-bound bus service was also suspended.
A complete shutter-down strike was also observed in sub-division Shigar and hundreds of people staged sit-in on Hassan Shaheed Chowk. Skardu-Shigar Road was also closed because of sit-in. Provincial Government had announced a closed holiday on Wednesday.
