shiitenews allama sajid naqvi raja nasir jaffryA controversy has been emerged on the issue of whether Allama Sajid Naqvi, chief of Shia Ulema Council (SUC) was invited to Quran-o-Sunnat Conference that Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen is holding on July 1 in Lahore.

The MWM has said that Allama Asghar Askari, deputy secretary general of MWM Punjab chapter led a delegation that visited house of Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi. He said that the invitation card was handed over to the son of Mr. Naqvi. MWM’s central coordination secretary Malik Iqrar Hussain and Maulana Fakhar Alvi, secretary general of Rawalpindi-Islamabad chapter were part of the delegation.

On the other hand, the SUC issued a statement that Allama Sajid Naqvi had met nobody. This caused a controversy whether he was invited to Quran-o-Sunnat Conference or not.

Position of the MWM is quite clear that the invitation card was handed over to the son of Mr. Naqvi. The SUC should have confirmed it instead of releasing a statement that created controversy.

As a matter of fact, it is not in the interest of Maumineen that religious scholars act like this. The two parties are members of Milli Yakjehti Council also. They should establish unity instead of creating controversy on petty issues.
