The Saudi Minister for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Saleh bin Abdul Aziz, on Monday remained busy soliciting the support of religious parties in his country’s conflict with Yemen’s Houthi movement.

The Saudi minister had arrived in Islamabad on Sunday on an unannounced trip amid growing doubts in Riyadh and among its allies about Islamabad’s support for the offensive against Yemen & Houthis movement after a parliamentary resolution called for observing neutrality in the conflict.

Sheikh Saleh’s only engagement with government functionaries on Monday was a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart, Sardar Mohammad Yusuf, who later hosted a reception in his honour.

But for most of the day, the Saudi minister interacted with clerics from Wafaqul Madaris Al-Arabia, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Outlawed terrorist Outfit AhleSunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ), Outlawed Terrorists Outfit Harkatul Ansar presently working as Ansarul Ummah, Jamiat Ahle Hadith, Outlawed Jamaatud Dawa, lashkar-e-Jhangvi and other groups by violating the diplomatic norms.

The meetings coincided with statements by some banned terrorists parties like ASWJ , LeJ & Ansarul Ummah said that that they could send fighters to Saudi Arabia if the government refused to send troops in support of the Saudi-led operation against Houthis.

There has also been an upsurge in activities by the religious parties for moulding public opinion in favour of the Saudi action and the need for Pakistan to support it.

Jamiat Ahle Hadith held a conference on Saturday and before that Jamaatud Dawa brought out a rally calling for Pakistan’s participation in the war against Houthis.

In his meetings, the Saudi religious minister has been saying that Riyadh remains confident that Pakistan will support it but not mentioning his funding and assignment to religious and banned terrorist outfits to pressurize the Government and Army to push Pakistan on this conflict.

Sheikh Saleh’s visit was preceded by a trip by Saudi Chief Adviser on Religious Affairs Dr Abdul Aziz.

A source disclosed that there had been a sudden increase in the number of visitors to Pakistan over the past fortnight.

Asked about the Saudi minister’s visit, FO spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said he was a guest of his Pakistani counterpart, Sardar Yousuf.

The patriotic forces Of Pakistan termed that the undiplomatic and illegal ambassadorial activities of Dr. Abdullah has exposed the PML-N Government’s leniency toward Saudi Kingdoms, as Pakistani authorities let the Saudi minister free to do whatever in Pakistan.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dr. Abdullah recently presided over the Tahfuz-e-Harman-e-Sharifin Seminar, organized by the Jamiyat Ahle Hadith on April 11 in Islamabad. The seminar was attended by Molana Abul Khair, Jamat-ut-Dawa’s Hafiz Saeed, Pir Amin Hasnat, Pir Mehfoz Mashhadi, Molana Fazul-ur-Rahman Khalil of Ansar Ul Ummah, Owais Norani, Liaquat Bloch, Farzand Hamid-ul-Haq and Sami-ul-Haq, who is famous as the father of Taliban.

The unjustified influence of the Saudi minister has motivated some religious parties and banned outfits to decry the resolution passed by Pakistan National Assembly on Yemen.

Saudi-backed Mullahs (clerics) now have come in the ground to support Saudi Kingdome, and resolved that their parties’ workers and students of hundreds of religious seminaries (Madaris) will go and join Saudi-led alliance of ten countries.
