Central Deputy Secretary General Majlis Wahdate Muslimeen (MWM) Allama Ameen Shaheedi has clarified that PPP was included in the electoral alliance for general elections for the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Legislative Assembly on the suggestion of Syed Rahat Hussain Al-Hussaini. He maintained that MWM intends to make more alliance in Skardu as well for the interest of the nation.

He was speaking at the press conference held in Skardu here on Thursday. He believed that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), following the pattern of previous elections in Pakistan, hatched a rigging conspiracy for the upcoming elections of GB.

He said that Nawaz Sharif has appointed his house servant as GB Governor, which was nothing but an open pre-poll rigging. PML-N government could have appointed reasonable person on this slot from this region.

“Under Benazir Income Support Program dozens of cards are being prepared and given to favorite people. The government employees belonging to PML-N and Punjab police officers are being deployed on the election duties just to complete pre-poll plan.

MWM wants the conduction of the election under the surveillance of Pakistan Army so that rigging conspiracy could be averted. The government provided 8000 square mile piece of land to China without any consent of the local people.

The government is using the land of GB for the economic benefits of the country but the people of the same region are deprived of their basic constitutional rights. The people of this region waited since long time to see GB as fifth province of the country,” he said.
