167 Madaaris sealed in Sindh for being involved in terrorism

According to government officials, 167 madaaris have been sealed in Sindh due to various allegations whereas 21 suspicious madaaris of Karachi and Hyderabad are under investigation.

I.G Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali told, during a session held under the leadership of Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, that some nasty literature has been found from some madaaris against which cases have also been filed.

 National action Plan, that was designed to eradicate terrorism, was also discussed in the session.

According to official announcement, Provincial interior secretary Mukhtiar Soomro told that out of more than 9000 madaaris, registration of 6500 have been completed whereas 3000 madaaris are left. 5, 17000 students are studying in those un-registered madaaris.

According to Provincial interior Ministry, Geo-tagging of madaaris has started and geo-tagging of 2122 madaaris of Karachi and 15500 madaaris of Hyderabad has been completed. This will help in finding their exact location.

Mukhtiar Soomro also told that out of 458 criminals, who are waiting for their punishment to be hanged, 18 have been punished whereas 395 appeals are under consideration in Sindh High Court, 1 in Shar’ai court and 53 in Supreme Court and 5 appeals for mercy are pending with President of Pakistan.

61 banned organizations have been identified in the province, 115 terrorists including 16 of Al-Qaeda and TTP have been killed and 879 arrested between September 2013 and September 2015.

Interior Secretary told regarding the identity of Afghan refugees and their return that more than 9, 26000 Afghan citizens are registered whereas 35 thousand people have been deported. In addition to this, 720 cases have been filed against illegal Afghan refugees under which 2100 people have been arrested.

I.G Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali told that General Raheel Sharif has provided modern arms to Sindh Police and has assured to provide more arms and ammunition.

Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that positive results have been seen due to General Raheel Sharif’s personal interest in the targeted operation. If he now takes measures to update police stations with modern equipment then this will be a very good step.
