faisal abidiPakistan Peoples Party Senator Syed Faisal Raza Abidi resigned from his Senate membership. According to party sources, he has tendered his resignation to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who will refer it to the Senate secretariat. While party leaders are yet to officially confirm Abidi’s resignation, sources requesting anonymity said that the PPP's Shia Senator membership was suspended following the attack on the Hazara community in Quetta. There were conflicting reports about the

resignation, with one PPP leader in Karachi saying that Abidi was asked to go along with the PPP team to Quetta after the bomb blast but he had refused to join the Government delegation in Quetta to use his influence in Shia community for Government support. On the other hand, some reports suggested that he had developed differences with senior party leaders close to President Zardari, due to which he had been sidelined. Despite many attempts, Abidi, who was one of the ardent defenders of President Zardari, did not attend his phone, but his media coordinator confirmed the news, saying “He has resigned today following differences with party leadership, but I cannot further comment on it.” He also dispelled the impression that Abidi would join another party. Political pundits believed that President Zardari has used the Faisal Raza Abidi against Judiciary and know Zardari sidelined the Faisal Raza Abidi like other leaders. Abidi has very disappointed with the attitude of President Asif Zardari and tendered the resignation from the Senatorship of PPP. However, In an interview was broadcasted on Local Pakistan TV Channel Duniya News’s program “Yaqeen” on late Thursday night, Faisal Raza Abidi claimed that “Government Officials told me to go to the main sit-in in Quetta and hold dialogues with the people regarding their demands because they thought the people would listen to me. He recalled that The people went home on my word in the sit-in protest held outside the Sindh Governor House at martyr Askari Raza funeral but the Government did not care to keep my word. This is why I refused to go in the Quetta sit-in along with Government delegation. The Party revoked my membership and i tendered the resignation from the PPP senatorship.”
