Karachi: Three terrorists of the political party involved in looting and burning of shops after Ashura incident arrested

Three terrorists responsible for burning shops and other properties with chemical after the Ashura incident of Karachi, were arrested by the police. According to ASP Shehla Qureshi, three terrorists involved in looting and burning of shops after the blast in Ashura procession of 2009, were arrested by the police. The terrorists belong to a political party and sources told that terrorists named Shakir Khan, Kamran Nata and Muhammad Waqar Haneef were wanted by the police in serious cases of looting and burning whereas the court had also issued their arrest warrants.

It should be clear that the blast of 28 December 2009 during the Ashura procession in Karachi was a planted bomb blast that was installed in the box of sacred pages after which, according to a scheme, extremists started burning the markets in adjacent areas within seconds. Later on, the mourners and participants of the procession were blamed for all that but investigations revealed that the group responsible for burning the properties came from the back side of the blast’s location and they had chemicals, rods and other material and its CCTV footage is also on record.

According to a report, the then mayor of Karachi Mustafa Kamal had issued the notice to all the shop owners in Jama Cloth and Light House markets to vacant the place but the shop owners and administration of market had ignored and rejected the market.
