People would forget the atrocities of Taliban if Daesh was not stopped: Asfandyar Wali

Leader of ANP Asfandyar Wali said “People would forget the atrocities of Taliban if Daesh was not stopped. Some international powers were bent on turning Pashtoon land into a battleground by using Daesh as their tool”. He linked the successful completion of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) with the establishment of peace in Afghanistan and said “conflicts among international powers would negatively affect the CPEC. Continuation of terrorism and conflicts in the region would let to the increase in activities of Daesh and other such organizations in the region. Therefore, strong steps should be taken for eradication of terrorism and establishment of peace in the region and China need to play the significant role for the purpose”.

While giving the interview to a private channel of Afghanistan Asfandyar Wali said “Contrary to the US China’s role has always played an impartial role and also facing extremism in Xinjiang and some other areas. Conflicts among international powers are not only affecting the situation in the region but also affecting the future of the corridor and if conflicts persist between the US, China and Russia over some issues then it would not only destroy the lives of Pashtuns on both sides but would also threaten the corridor plan because the corridor will have to pass through Afghanistan to reach Central Asia.

While answering a question about terrorism in the region, Asfandyar Wali said “the war that was initiated in Afghanistan during 80s under the leadership of the US made Afghans, for the first time in history, to fight in name of religion rather than nationalism and Afghaniat and we are still facing its repercussions. Had the US not alienated itself from Afghanistan after the Najeeb Ullah Government neither Taliban would have re-emerged nor Al-Qaeda and Daesh would be established”.

“Taliban targeted ANP because they knew that ANP could show resistance. Mullah Umar once sent Naseer Ullah Babar out of the room just because Babar had asked him to accept the Durand Line. If Pakistan could not accept LOC as an international boundary on pressure of Kashmiri people then how Durand Line could be accepted as an international boundary".
