PTI, MWM discuss alliance, joint strategy for upcoming polls

mwm ptiA high level delegation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led by the party president Makhdoom Javed Hashmi on Tuesday called on the Majlis-e-Wehdat Muslimeen (MWM) Deputy General Secretary Allama Mohammad Amin Shaheedi at MWM Central Office Islamabad to discuss the alliance between the two parties for upcoming general elections in the Country.

Addressing the joint press conference after holding hours long meeting, President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Makhdoom Javed Hashmi said that sectarianism had not base in the country and his party was striving to bring all anti-status quo forces on one platform so as the corrupt politicians could be held accountable.
Talking to media after a meeting with Deputy Secretary General of Majlis Wehdatul Muslimeen (MWM) Ameen Shahidi here, the PTI president said that there was no clash between the followers of Shia and Sunni sects in the country.

PTI Vice Chairman Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Secretary General Dr Arif Alvi, Firdous Naqvi and Ejaz Chaudhry were also present on the occasion.

Javed Hashmi said that the upcoming elections are very crucial for the country and all the political parties will have to be united on one point agenda to save the country.

He said that all the political parties should make joint efforts for uprooting the culture of corruption from the country, adding that the foreign intervention can only be stopped by making the country economically strong and prosperous.

Ameen Shahidi said that they will support any party which wanted to materialize the dreams of making strong and prosperous Pakistan. Allama Shaheedi said that PTI wants the political alliance with Majlis-e-Wehdat Muslimeen (MWM) and we will inform the PTI office bearers soon.

He applauded the role of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leadership and workers in the peaceful sit-in of MWM and Shiite Muslims for the genocide of Shia people in Quetta saying that this is the need of hour to eliminate the terrorists involved in the killing of innocent people.

Speaking on the occasion, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that both the leaders had understood the views of each other. “Now the time has come when all the patriotic forces which are sincere with the country should now stand united on a single platform,” said Qureshi. Replying to a question, he said that no positive change has been witnessed in Balochistan even after the promulgation of governor’s rule in the province.

The leaders of both the parties also discussed possibility of election alliance between both the parties for the upcoming elections.

MWM leaders Allama Iqbal Bahishti, Allama Ejaz Bahishti, Allama Asghar Askari and Malik Iqrar Hussain were present on the meeting.
