Karachi: 12 terrorists of subcontinent’s Al-Qaeda and TTP killed during police encounter

Shiite News: Twelve terrorists of subcontinent’s Al-Qaeda and TTP have been allegedly killed by police and secret agencies during encounters in Peeri and Sohrab Goth areas of Karachi. A large amount of arms, explosives, hand grenades, suicide jackets and police and Rangers’ uniforms were also recovered whereas two police officials were also injured from terrorists’ firing. Five of the killed terrorists were identified as Sohail chashmatu, Bilal, Khalil, Talha and Abdul Salam. All terrorists were involved in terrorism and various other crimes and many cases were also registered against them in different police stations. Sohail Chashmatu was involved in killing of 4 DSPs.

According to SSP Malir Rao Anwar, a raid was conducted near Peeri, upon identification by arrested terrorists Naeem Bukhari and Farooq Bhatti, but terrorist opened firing on police officials due to which police had to retaliate and 8 terrorists were killed in retaliatory action whereas 4 terrorists succeeded in running away. 2 police officials were also got injured due to terrorists’ firing. 4 pressure cooker bombs, suicide jackets, ball bearing, 3 grenades, detonator, 5 SMGs, 3 pistols, 20 magazines and uniforms of police and Rangers were recovered from the killed terrorists.

SSP Rao Anwar further told that 5 of the 8 terrorists killed in Peeri police encounter have been identified and they all belonged to Al-Qaeda sub-continent and LeJ. Law enforcement agencies also chased the terrorists who ran away and killed all four terrorists in another encounter near Super Highway however, they have not yet been identified.

According to police, Sohail alias chashmatu was their leader who was involved in terrorism, target killing and in attacks on police and Rangers personnel, including killings of DSP Majeed Abbasi, DSP Fatah Sangri and Jail superintendent Zulfiqar Haider. Weapons recovered from terrorists will be send to forensic laboratory for further details.
