Indian PM visits Saudi Arabia to increase pressure on Pakistan

Shiite News: Indian PM Narendra Modi is on a visit to Saudi Arabia which, according to BJP officials, is a part of broader diplomatic policy and its purpose is to increase pressure on Pakistan by establishing friendly relations with some of its close allies.

According to news agency Reuters, it is expected that Modi will sign some trade agreements, investment agreements on infrastructure plans and there are also chances for offers of training and joint exercises, military cooperation and cooperation on security issues.

Indian PM Narendra Modi had also visited UAE, another close ally of Pakistan, few months ago during which both the countries signed agreements for cooperation on security issues, including the agreement for regular meetings of senior security advisors.

BJP’s general secretary Ram Madhev said “it is very simple, we have to do anything to deal with Pakistan and have to make use of economy, planning and emotions to win Islamabad’s friends”.

India would get more sympathies and cooperation both on regional and international level if it succeeds in establishing strong relations with Pakistan’s allies such as Saudi Arabia and UAE and it would ultimately increase pressure on Pakistan.

Government officials have declared Modi’s visit as a diplomatic effort to keep a distance between Pakistan and India and also because India has been trying to play a greater geographical and political role in Asia in order to counter China.

Around 35 lac Indians live in Saudi Arabia and it also is the major supplier of energy to India.

Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister had said in a statement that “Pakistan is their old ally whereas India is her strategic partner”. The statement is of crucial importance from strategic point of view because a country could leave an old ally for its objectives but cannot leave its strategic partner. Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister had also clarified that it would never leave its strategic partner alone during difficult times.

India has brought Pakistan to a difficult position through diplomacy. On one hand, Pakistan’s neighbouring country is getting close to India because of Islamabad’s pro-Saudi Arabia policies while on the other hand India has also become strategic partner of Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Pakistan needs to increase her efforts to further strengthen its relations with its neighbouring countries and should also make efforts for better relations with China, Iran, Afghanistan and Russia, in addition to Saudi Arabia, so that it could also deal diplomatically with India. But if we keep wasting our energies only for pleasing Saudi rulers then it could have serious repercussions for Pakistan.
