tnfjHundreds of thousands of people staged demonstrations on Friday in all over Pakistan to support the demand that holy shrines should be reconstructed in Jannat ul Baqi graveyard forthwith.
The protests were held under the aegis of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen in all parts of the country. They lodged their

protest on demolition of the holy shrines on the graves of Ahl-e-Bait (AS), Ummhat ul Maumineen (RA) and companions of Hazrat Mohammad (Peace Be upon Him).

The supporters of the MWM and ISO female wings gathered outside Karachi Press Club carrying banners and placards that were inscribed with the anti-demolition slogans.

They also raised slogans against the razing of the shrines and graves in Jannat ul Baqi graveyard in Medina. Children were also accompanying with them.

“8th Shawal brings to the memory of more than a billion Muslim the sad demolition of the hole shrines of sacred personalities of Islam,” said Khanum Zahra Najafi, an official of the MWM women wing.

Speaking to the protestors, she said, Jannat ul Baqi and its shrines should have been preserved. She said that the OIC and UNESCO should press the Saudi government to reconstruct the holy shrines and repair the graves of sacred personalities of Islam who were laid to rest in Jannat ul Baqi.

“We demand Saudi authorities either do this work on your own or allow us to donate cash for the reconstruction work,” she offered.

The protestors also chanted slogans condemning the monarchy for their intolerant and un-Islamic act of demolition of the sacred shrines and graves of noble personalities of history of Islam.

Similar protest was staged outside of Khoja Masjid Kharadar where MWM officials Allama Sadiq Raza Taqvi, Maulana Ali Anwar and Mubashir Zaidi spoke. They said that demolition of the shrines in Jannat ul Baqi in 1920s still hurt the Muslims. They said it was painful for Islamic Ummah to see the holy graveyard in a dilapidated condition while the King and princes are living a luxurious life in their palaces.

Reports of similar sorts of rallies were received from Islamabad, Lahore, Gilgit-Baltistan, Peshawar, Parachinar, Quetta, Hyderabad, Matli, Badin, Dadu, Naushehro Feroze, Larkana, Khairpur, Nawabshah, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Ghotki and Jacobabad of Sindh province, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Bhakkar, Chiniot, Multan, Chakwal, Layyah, Sialkot, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Gujranwala, Gujrat and Sargodha of Punjab, and other parts of all the five provinces of Pakistan.
