Retired army colonel appointed as counterterrorism minister in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday has appointed Lieutenant Colonel Sardar Mohammad Ayub Khan (retired) as minister for counter terrorism department.


A formal approval letter has been issued in Punjab Cabinet pertaining to give anti-terrorism department to retired Colonel Ayub Khan. The total number of minister in Provincial Cabinet has been 32 after this addition.
It is for the first time that counterterrorism department will be led by a separate minister. Neither federal government nor any provincial government had ever appointed a full-fledged minister for counterterrorism department.
