Army Chief assures business community to rid Karachi of terrorism

The traders and businessmen community said yesterday that Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Bajwa assured them that the law enforcement agencies would rid Karachi of terrorism.

He gave the assurance at a meeting met with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) members during his visit to the city. In the meeting at the Corps Headquarters, the trader fraternity complained to Gen Bajwa that the Sindh government is not fulfilling its responsibilities, adding that the local government has been responsible for the city's deterioration.

The COAS upon his visit to Karachi, laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered fateha for the martyrs. COAS was given detailed briefing at Corps and Rangers HQ, said the ISPR press release.
“COAS lauded operations by Rangers with LEAs, which have restored normalcy in Karachi, significantly reducing terrorism, target killing and kidnapping for ransom,” said the ISPR.
According to the media cell release, the COAS said that Army as a state institution would continue to give full support to all the government institutions involved in the Karachi Operation, particularly Sindh police and civil administration.
Upon arrival at Karachi, COAS was received by Lieutenant General Shahid Baig Mirza, Commander 5 Corps, said the ISPR
The FPCCI members also apprised the COAS about the prevalent problems regarding Karachi’s law and order situation.
The FPCCI said that the army chief said that traders and industrialists are the backbone of the country’s economy.
