Anti-Taliban police officer martyred in suicide attack in Karachi

police tanoliYazidi takfiri nasbi terrorists of banned Taliban/Sipah-e-Sahaba martyred an anti-terrorist police officer in a suicide attack blast in the Old Sabzi Mandi area of Karachi on Thursday.

Shiite News Correspondent reported that 4 people including police inspector Shafiq Tanoli

embraced martyrdom and 15 other people injured in the huge blast caused by suicide bomber.

Police said that Mr. Tanoli was the target. A local police official, Raja Umar Khitab, confirmed that it was suicide attack.

“The bomber came walking in the shop where Mr. Shafiq Tanoli was sitting and blew himself up,” he added.

Express Tribune has claimed that Mr. Tanoli was targeted at least seven times before and in one such attempt he was critically wounded in recent past.

One of Tanoli’s brothers, Rasheed, told the media that his uncle and cousin were among the deceased as well.

According to hospital sources, the post-mortem report stated that there were serious injuries on Tanoli’s head, face and chest caused by the explosive material which resulted in his death.

Tanoli’s family members had borne the brunt of his work in the past. Tanoli’s younger brother, Naveed, was martyred the same day when Tanoli, the then SHO of Supermarket Police Station, had arrested the murderers of Geo News reporter Wali Khan Babar. Tanoli was the investigating officer for the murder case.

The injured in today’s attack, who also included Tanoli’s family members, were taken to local hospitals for medical assistance. Rescue teams and the police have reached the site of the explosion and a shop was destroyed in the blast as well.

It is also relevant to add here that after Chaudhry Aslam Khan, Tanoli was the only police officer who was challenging the Yazidi takfiri nasbi terrorists of banned Taliban, Sipah-e-Sahaba (ASWJ and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. Ch Aslam was also martyred in a suicide attack.

Tanoli’s brother blamed DIG Abdul Khaliq Shaikh for the murder saying that he punished the efficient Tanoli for his fight against terrorism and violence. He suspended and demoted him and withdrew security from him. Reports had it that the terrorists also fired bursts of bullets outside his flat some days ago late in the night to harass him.
