Al-Hubail condemned attacks on peaceful protests in Manama and said “the remarks and stances taken by Egyptian Islamic theologian Youssef Al-Qarzawi and the Arab League in support of crushing public protests are astonishing.”

He praised the high-turnout of Bahraini people in protests, saying that more than Û¶Û° pc of Bahrain nationals have attended the anti-government demonstrations.

In another development, al-Hubail also called on Saudi Kingdom to free the prisoners who are held for more than sixteen years immediately.

Bahraini security forces have been brutally suppressing anti-government protesters. So far, at least 24 people have been martyred, almost 40 have gone missing, 250 have been arrested  and about 1,000 others have been injured.

The violence against protesters escalated when Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar dispatched their armed forces to the country upon Manama's request to help with the crackdown on peaceful protesters.
