In an interview with Ansarullah’s television station, al-Masirah, Muhammad Abdus-Salam, the spokesman for Yemen’s Ansarullah (Houthi) movement, spoke of the reasons for the delay over beginning dialogue to solve the multitude of problems that Yemen faces, especially since March 25, 2015 when Saudi Arabia began a bombing campaign and mobilized various armed forces in the region for a possible invasion in order to drive Ansarullah out of power.

Abdus-Salam argued that the United Nations Security Council has clearly taken the side of the executioner in the recent Saudi-led war on this impoverished and war-torn Arab country. The fact is that the Security Council must act as an impartial international institution which is responsible for providing security to the Yemeni people. He stressed that when making decisions and taking positions, the Security Council should not involve themselves in political issues. Over the past years, there has been much evidence that the Security Council has acted in ways which are against justice.
Abdus-Salam spoke about the role of dialogue in Yemen, emphasizing the importance of resolving the crisis in Yemen. He stated that there is no secret that Saudi Arabia is committing acts of aggression and crimes in Yemen. Due to this, the Saudi regime does not meet the conditions to engage in dialogue over the Yemeni crisis which they created and added that there is no possibility for dialogue under the shadow of the still ongoing Saudi aggression.

"The United Nations has taken a self-contradictory position toward Yemen – they have not issued any resolution or condemnation against Saudi Arabia for their criminal acts over the last month, however, they have stressed the importance of a new round of dialogue over Yemen," he said.

Abdus-Salam stated that recently, Dr Jamal Benomar, the UN peace envoy to Yemen, has resigned from his position after losing support from the Gulf nations, which has essentially ruled out any negotiations to solve the Yemeni issue.

Ansarullah’s spokesman stressed the importance the role of the Islamic scholars in the resistance against the aggressors, saying that the effects of their lectures play an important role in dealing with the enemy. Scholars have always based their positions on the Holy Quran.

In conclusion, Abdus-Salaam called on scholars to speak with the best interests of the Islamic community in mind and to guide and lead the people of Yemen and institutionalize a spirit of resistance in them against the American and Saudi.
