The Bahrain Human Rights Society (BHRS) announced that during last December 2015, there were 86 cases of detention, 146 protests were held, 47 of which were handled with force, and 52 house raids were launched in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

According to BHRS, a number of court verdicts were issued in December including an upheld death sentence, life imprisonment sentences in addition to a 55-year prison term, decisions revoking 24 citizenships, not to mention many sentences reaching up to 15 years in prison.

BHRS further stated that the Special Investigation challenged a sentence acquitting a security officer member for targeting a youth with a shotgun and a court issued a sentence to imprison a policeman for two years for assaulting a detainee, while a police officer and four policemen were acquitted of torture charges against detainees to extract confessions over a narcotics case.

The human rights society also reported two cases in which detainees were not allowed to attend their mother's funeral (Ali Abduljalil and Hussein Al-Aali).

BHRS recorded as well two shooting incidents targeting a mosque in Al-Hamla village and another in Manama.

It further expressed its deep disappointment at the fact that there is no improvement in the human rights situation in Bahrain, calling for concerted efforts to improve these conditions whether by the competent state authorities or factions of civil society.
