bahrinA political analyst tells Press TV that the US, for its silence toward the Bahrani regime’s ongoing crackdown on protesters, is an accomplice to the Al Khalifa’s crimes.

“Bahrain - because the United States is not saying a word about its autocratic monarchy, its oppression, its suppression

of any type of democratic movement or protest - is believing that it can get away with impunity, that it can escape the eyes of the world with impunity,” Colin Cavell, a former lecturer at the University of Bahrain, said on Thursday.

“It has hired over 16 public relations firms in the United States and in London to make sure that no bad press about Bahrain gets to the world. But the world is watching. Press TV has covered it; RT has covered it and [so have] many other television stations around the world,” the commentator noted.

He pointed out that the world community was, however, aware of Manama’s violence, suppression of democratic voices and the killing and jailing of protesters despite efforts to hide them.

Bahrainis have been staging demonstrations since mid-February 2011, calling for political reforms and a constitutional monarchy, a demand that later changed to an outright call for the ouster of the ruling Al Khalifa family following its brutal crackdown on popular protests.

Scores have been killed, many of them under torture, while in custody, and thousands more detained since the popular uprising in the Persian Gulf kingdom.

Protesters say they will continue holding anti-regime demonstrations until their demand for the establishment of a democratically-elected government and an end to rights violations are met.
