Iraqi security forces, backed by volunteers, have killed five Takfiri ISIL militants in the northern city of Tikrit in Salah al-Din province.

Security personnel carried out an operation in al-Sajaleh neighborhood in Tikrit on Wednesday, killing five terrorists, a military source said.

On the same day, one civilian was killed and six others were wounded in an explosion that rocked the al-Madain district in southeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, local media quoted the police as saying.

The incident happened when a roadside bomb planted in al-Daraiah neighborhood in Madain went off early in the morning, police said.

Bombing attacks by foreign-backed terrorists remain common across Iraq and mostly target the country’s security forces and areas populated by the majority Shia community.

Most of the terrorist attacks in the Arab country have been attributed to the ISIL terrorists.

The militants currently control parts of Syria and Iraq, where they have been committing heinous crimes in the captured areas, including the mass execution of civilians and security forces.

Iraqi authorities have repeatedly blamed Saudi Arabia and a number of Riyadh’s Persian Gulf allies for extending financial and logistical support to the terror campaign in Iraq.
