Kurdish fighters in Syria have called on all Kurds across the region to take up arms as the ISIL militants are inching toward the Syrian town of Kobani on the border with Turkey.

In a statement, the armed wing of Syria's Kurdish Supreme Committee has pledged “never-ending” resistance against the Takfiri ISIL militants.

"Every street and house [in Kobani] will be a grave for them," the statement added.

"Our call to all the young men and women of Kurdistan ... is to come to be part of this resistance," it said.

There are fears of a bloody massacre if the border town falls into the hands of the ISIL terrorists.

Despite the retreat of Kurdish fighters from the west of Kobani, fighting reportedly rages on in the eastern and southern flanks of the town, which remains under constant shelling by ISIL.

Meanwhile, the US-led coalition has carried out fresh airstrikes against the ISIL positions near the Kurdish town. Local commanders say the attacks have so far failed to stop the terrorist group’s advance.

The two-week intense battle for the strategic town has forced tens of thousands of people to take refuge in Turkey.
