A UK-based Syrian opposition group says the Takfiri ISIL has executed up to 200 of its own members who had been disillusioned and wanted to leave the terrorist group.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the majority of the victims were foreign militants who were killed for trying to flee the ISIL-held territories and return to their home countries.

The group has confirmed the execution of 120 militants. However, it said that, based on sources on the ground, the true figure could be higher and could reach nearly 200.

It said it could not confirm the ages or nationalities of the executed militants, but it is known that some of them were Europeans.

The United Nations in late October warned that unprecedented numbers of foreigners are flocking to Iraq and Syria to join extremist groups such as the ISIL despite US-led strikes on the groups’ positions.

According to a report by the UN Security Council, 15,000 people have flocked to Syria and Iraq to fight alongside the ISIL or other such groups.

The report added that the militants hail from more than 80 countries, which had not contributed to international terrorism before.

The ISIL terrorists control some parts of Iraq and Syria. They are engaged in crimes against humanity in the areas under their control. They have terrorized and killed people of all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians.
