British aid including food and mattresses have been stolen by Middle Eastern terrorists, according to a report by the National Audit Office (NAO).

It's believed ISIS is behind the thefts following reports the sick terrorist had stolen food baskets from the UN World Food Programme in Syria in January 2015.

The NAO report reveals British aid worth £150,000 was stolen between April 2014 and January 2015 from 16 programmes established by the Department for International Development.

Aid was stolen in Syria, Nepal, Kenya and Somalia, Sierra Leone and Yemen.
The NAO confirmed terrorists were responsible for stealing aid worth £70,000 including mattresses and plastic sheeting and other winter items from a warehouse in northern Syria.

A NAO spokeswoman declined to elaborate saying "it poses a security threat" to aid organisations and partners in Syria.

The report said: "In Syria, the Department’s partners have on occasions experienced aid diversion due to armed groups.

"The items that are stolen by these groups vary, but food baskets are particularly targeted.
"The Department and its partners take several precautions to minimise the risk of theft, but these are not always successful in light of changing frontlines."

In January 2015, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) said it was “deeply concerned” over reports ISIS, also known as Daesh, was distributing stolen food aid after relabelling the packages.

Photos circulated online of terrorists handing out food aid packages bearing the black and white ISIS flag and the WFP logo, Express reported.
