Allama Mukhtar Imami, spokesman for the Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen has said that unjustifiable arrest and uncalled for detention of senior Shia scholar Allama Mirza Yousuf Hussain was aimedt at victimizing him for his great struggle for the unity of Muslims.

Speaking at a press conference at Karachi Press Club he demanded immediate release of Allama Mirza Yousuf Hussain, head of All Pakistan Shia Action Committee alongside withdrawal of the fake FIR against him. He said that protesting against the murder of civil society activist Khurram Zaki was not a sin since there was no law and order problem created in that protest nor Allama Mirza Yousuf Hussain made any provocative speech.
Allama Imami said that pro-takfiri elements were trying their best to divert focus of National Action Plan from banned terrorist outfits and their ringleaders to pro-peace non-controversial and patriot scholars that could never be accepted.
He also condemned the Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister for his decision to ban observance of Youm-e-Hussain (AS) in the educational institutions. He said that it was strange that in Pakistan , Hindus freely celebrate Diwali and Holi and Christians freely celebrate Christmas and other religious days but Muslims are denied to observe Youm-e-Hussain (AS) that they hold to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS), grandson of Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH), the last apostle of God and Prophet of Islam.
He also lashed at the government for suicide bombing at the shrine of Hazrat Syed Sakhi Bilawal Shah Noorani in district Lasbela of Balochistan.
